Labor
Brett understands that strong schools are connected to strong communities, and that means strong labor partnerships.
He is a founding member of Michigan Climate Jobs, a labor-led initiative focused on modernizing public schools through energy-efficiency and renewable-energy projects completed with union labor. This work helps create safer, healthier learning environments for students while improving working conditions for educators and school employees. It also helps school districts reduce long-term energy costs, allowing more resources to stay focused on students and classrooms.
Brett’s labor work extends to the national level as well. He proudly represents NEA on the DNC Labor Council Steering Committee, where he works alongside labor leaders from across the country. In that role, he helps ensure that public education and union members are part of broader national conversations affecting working families.
This work reflects Brett’s commitment to building partnerships, supporting union labor, and delivering results that matter to members.
